About the event
‘Tidur Lambak’ is an immersive performance, highlighting the nostalgic communal sleeping arrangements associated with the Malaysian practice of balik kampung (homecoming). Set in a space filled with mats and ambient sounds of rural Indonesia, guests are invited to lie down and rest. Two performers from Malaysia and Indonesia move through the room, exchanging stories and dreams, weaving audience confessions – both pre-recorded and live – into a shared dreamscape of memories.
Tidur Lambak consists of 3 phases: (1) communal sleep rituals, (2) individual slumber, and (3) dream performance. Blurring the line between waking and dreaming, ‘Tidur Lambak’ is a gentle exploration of trust and connection.
*Audiences are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and bring their own pillow.
