‘THE VOICES AFTER CAK!’ Mulawali Institute (Bali)

Artist Talk with Mulawali Institute will be held after the performance: 21.30 WIB at Tuti Indra Malaon.

‘The Voices After Cak!’ is a dance-theatre performance rooted in the physical vibrations of the Balinese kecak, harnessing it as a method of creation. Developed through workshops with Mulawali Institute, the piece draws on the performers’ biographies—spanning different cities and generations, and incorporating their bodies, vibrations, and vocals—as material for movement, sound, and dialogue.

Conceived by writer-director Wayan Sumahardika, ‘The Voices After Cak!’ was first initiated in Bali through the Innovative Creation Program by Yayasan Kelola. Now it continues its evolution at DITP 2025 through new collaborations with Jakarta-based performers. This work is part of Mulawali Institute’s long-term project Dekolonial Expo & Bali (2025–2031), which examines intra-colonialism through a microscopic lens.
