Artist Talk with Dr. Nungki Kusumastuti will be held after the performance: 21.00 WIB at Teater Kecil.

‘Gerak dari Cikini’ is a lecture performance by dancer, researcher, and educator Dr. Nungki Kusumastuti. As the work returns to its spatial roots in Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, Nungki reflects upon her dissertation on Indonesian contemporary dance. As someone who has lived, learned, and created within the ecosystem of TIM since the 1970s, she shares how her life and work have been shaped by this cultural center and the people within it.

‘Gerak dari Cikini’ was initially commissioned by the Indonesian Performance and Theatre Conference and first presented by Nungki on 12 November 2024 at IFI-LIP Yogyakarta. It reflects on how her body moves between the artistic and academic worlds, and how the relationship between the two cultivates a sensitivity—both in composing academic texts as well as in creating dance performances.
